Basic Riders Classes (BRC)
The MSF BRC is the best place for a new rider to start once they’ve made the decision to ride. The course consists of approximately 5 hours of formal classroom activities and 13 hours of riding instruction. Practical riding skills are developed in a controlled off-street environment.
Basic Riders Classes (BRC2)
Prerequisite: MSF BRC eCourse
Requirements: A motorcycle learners permit or full endorsement. Riders must provide their own two-wheeled single track motorcycle.
The MSF BRC2 is for riders who already have basic skills. It is similar to the BRC except the speeds are higher. There’s always something new to learn. This course allows you to hone your riding skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed to survive in traffic. This class will enable you to be a safer, smarter rider. You must have an “M” endorsement on your driver’s license. Classes run from 8a – 5p. The registration fee is $85.00. There are a limited number of spaces in each class. Pre-registration and Pre-payment are required for all classes. High School students must provide permission forms from their schools.
Advanced Rider Course (ARC)
Requirements: A motorcycle learners permit or full endorsement. A motorcycle endorsement and provide your own two-wheeled single track motorcycle.
The MSF ARC is a one-day course that complements a rider’s basic skills and helps with personal risk assessment. It includes a fast-paced classroom segment with several interactive activities to improve perception and hazard awareness with focuses on the behavioral aspects of riding such as attitude and personal risk assessment, and includes discussions about braking proficiency, cornering techniques and traction management.

Basic Motorcycle Rider
This course is designed for new riders who have never ridden a motorcycle and for re-entry riders who need a refresher course. Students will learn about the different types of motorcycles, layout and operation of the basic controls, and how to become a safer, more responsible rider. Successful participants will receive a NC DMV skills waiver card.
